A Little About Myself

How I Became a Dog Walker

My name is Lauren and 4 years ago I moved to Scotland, South Ayrshire with my husband. My experience with dogs started at the age of 6 with my grandmother owning a Jack Russell Terrier and we were inseparable. It took a long time for my parents to finally give in but when I was 19 we welcomed Taz, our Jack Russell Terrier. As years went by, I moved away from the family home, met my husband and came to Scotland in 2013. During that time we helped look after family and friends dogs and walk them just for pleasure; but we both struggled without a dog in the house, having left dogs back in our family homes and made the joint decision to not only take on a dog but adopt from a rescue. We now have not only one, but two Greyhound rescues, one from a racing background our lovely retired boy Bruno and our shy young mischievious girl brought up in kennels, Eliza. As challenging as it was at first, we would not be without them and would love to take on another in the future. However, it became clear that having dogs and working full time meant that we needed a dog walker ourselves to help break up some of the long days when our shifts collided. After 5 years in retail and 6 years in healthcare, something did not seem to fit and the only time I felt completely at ease and happy, was coming home to those wagging tails and happy faces after a long grueling shift. The more I thought about it the more it made sense, I wanted to work with dogs. So here I am, starting my very own business as a dog walker and I can't wait to meet all of my future furry friends and I hope to bring them as much happiness on their walks as they do to me!
